Parental Controls
The following parental controls are available by opening Chat Watch's
settings and clicking Parental Controls.
Acronym Translator
If enabled, the Acronym Translator will scan each chat log and
replace each acronym with its English meaning. For example, if the chat
log contains ASL the Acronym Translator will replace it with
Age Sex Location. The Acronym Translator will help you to understand
the conversation if it contains the sometimes obscure acronyms. For a
list of acronyms that Chat Watch scans for click
here.
Content Monitor
If enabled, the Content Monitor will scan each chat log for words or
phrases that may be considered inappropriate. Chat logs that are found
to contain such words or phrases will be shown in red on Chat Watch's
main screen.
Select the Notify me via e-mail when a chat log contains possibly
inappropriate words option to have Chat Watch automatically e-mail
you when a chat log is found to contain possibly inappropriate words.
(To use this feature you must have entered your
e-mail settings in Chat Watch's
settings.)
The most commonly offensive words are already in the Content Monitor
and can not be removed. To add additional words or phrases click the
Edit Word List button.
User Notification
If enabled, each time Windows starts or a new user logs on a
notification will be shown to the user informing them that their chat
logs are being logged. The user will have to click an I Agree
button to dismiss the notification. The message shown to the user can be
customized by clicking the Edit Notification button. To see how
the notification will look to the user click the Preview button.
In the User Notification message shown to the user, it is highly
recommended that you clearly inform the user that their chats are being
logged and/or monitored. If your company or organization has a specific
user agreement concerning electronic communication or computer usage you
should use that agreement in the User Notification.
Important: In some instances it may be required by law that
the user of the computer be informed that their electronic communication
is being logged and/or monitored. If you are unsure it is highly
recommended that you seek legal advice or do not log the chats. |
