Network Copy
The Network Copy feature allows you to store the chat logs in a
network folder rather than on the local computer. This feature may be
useful if you have several computers running Chat Watch simultaneously
or you do not want the chat logs kept on the computer for security
reasons.
Important: If the Save the chat logs to a network folder
and not to this computer option is selected the chat logs will
not be saved to the local computer with the following exception: If
the network folder is not accessible for any reason and the Save the
chat logs to this computer if the network folder is not accessible
option is selected then the chat logs will be stored on the local
computer.
The chat logs can be saved as plain text (.txt) files, or as Adobe
Acrobat PDF files which can be optionally encrypted and password
protected. If you are concerned that other users will be able to read
the chat logs then use the PDF option and password protect the
documents. (You can also edit the ACL of the network folder to
accommodate the special permissions. See Windows' documentation.)
The chat logs saved to the network folder will contain the following
additional information to identify the source of the chat: Computer
Name, IP Address, Workgroup/Domain, and Computer User.
The chat logs will be saved to the network folder as the chats
happen. The Network Folder specified does not have to be an actual
network folder - it could be a folder on the local computer or an
external storage device. |
